About Me

Who am I as an Artist?

I would say that my artistic philosophy is to make everything I make meaningful in some way. I like to have small bits of sentiment scattered within my pieces, usually not noticeable to the view at first glance. I also know that I create my best work when I'm truly inspired. If I don't have a vision I know I probably won't like what I made. I think I am definitely still growing as an artist. I think I only just discovered my style this year and it's bright, colourful and loud.

I take art in school because I know that I'm not fully confident as an artist and I want to learn more. I do think that I am gaining that knowledge and I have definitely grown as an artist since. I use art as an outlet to express emotions that I have no other place to put. This has proven to be very helpful to me and actually improves my art.

My Favourite project this year:

My favourite project that I did this year would have to be my Feminist Art project. It was inspired by Yayoi Kusama and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. This was also the project that made me realize I have never really liked anything I made and that I needed to branch out and discover my style.

My least favourite project this year:

My least favourite project that I did this year would have to be my watercolour and pen painting. I don't like watercolour and I'm not at all comfortable with it so it didn't turn out as I wanted it in the slightest. I would rather forget that this piece even exists. I don't even have a picture of it completed.

Media I want to explore next year:

Although this is my last year in the Linden Art program I want to continue working on my painting skills. I love painting and don't plan on stopping just yet.

Styles and art movements I want to explore:

I want to explore more avant-garde and contemporary art next year. I am so drawn to it and definitely feel myself practicing some of those styles.
